Small explosive detonates downtown

A small homemade explosive device detonated in a downtown alley on 17th Street in Cheyenne on Monday, Sept. 18. The Cheyenne Police Department reported the explosion between Pioneer and Carey avenues by the Cheyenne Transitional Center.

A video on Facebook posted by the CPD at 1 p.m. Monday showed a person in the same area where the device was detonated wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses and carrying a satchel, according to a report in the Wyoming Tribune Eagle.

The CPD will investigate the incident, but Malatesta told the WTE  there was no distinguishable motivation for the detonation.

In the post, the Cheyenne Police Department asked anyone with information about the person in the video to contact the police at 307-637-6525.

I have lived in Cheyenne for more than 10 years. I have been fascinated by art and design since my time in Henderson Elementary School. When I entered into high school, I began getting into media. I’ve worked on computer graphics in CorelDraw and digital art on Photoshop. I started going to Laramie County Community College in June 2015 in the same week as graduating from East High School. My interests are usually about animation, video games and I would like to become a graphic designer in the future.
