Small explosive detonates downtown
A small homemade explosive device detonated in a downtown alley on 17th Street in Cheyenne on Monday, Sept. 18. The Cheyenne Police Department reported the explosion between Pioneer and Carey avenues by the Cheyenne Transitional Center.
A video on Facebook posted by the CPD at 1 p.m. Monday showed a person in the same area where the device was detonated wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses and carrying a satchel, according to a report in the Wyoming Tribune Eagle.
The CPD will investigate the incident, but Malatesta told the WTE there was no distinguishable motivation for the detonation.
In the post, the Cheyenne Police Department asked anyone with information about the person in the video to contact the police at 307-637-6525.
