With the beginning of the new year at Laramie County Community College and the Student Government Association, students elected President Chris Smith and Vice President Sebastian Houston to represent them.
SGA President Chris Smith said this is his second year on the Student Government Association here at Laramie County Community College. Last year, Smith was a senator for the health sciences and his major is sports management. Smith’s plan for this year is to get the student body more involved at LCCC, “There is a lot of changes going on, I want to make sure the students know what’s going on,” Smith said. “They’re the Golden Eagles, let’s just see what the Golden Eagles want to talk about.” Smith said he feels that the new SGA members will bring in some good ideas.
SGA Vice President Sebastian Houston said this is his second year on the Student Government Association here at Laramie County Community College. In his first semester, Houston was a senator, and in his second semester he was the Treasurer. Houston is majoring in criminal justice. Houston’s plan for this year is to help the student body become aware of changes being made by the administration and that the administration hears the voices of the students. “Student Government is supposed to be that bridge between the two,” Houston said. Another plan Houston has is to revise the constitution to make it more effective. Houston feels that the fresh perspective of the new SGA members is helping SGA become more productive.
