The Laramie County Community College men’s soccer team closed the 2017 season with an overall record of 3-12-1, finishing 4th out of 5 teams in the Division 1-North Region IX standings.
The Golden Eagles started the season on Aug. 25 with a 3-1 road loss to Barton County Community College. Defender Quinn Hunt scored the lone goal for LCCC while goalkeeper Angel Alvarez had 3 saves.
The Golden Eagles faced the 11th ranked team in the country, Eastern Florida Community College, on Aug 26 and lost 11-2. LCCC forward Israel Hernandez and midfielder Ricardo Vazquez each scored a goals while Alvarez had 15 saves.
LCCC fell to Salt Lake Community College at home on Sept. 1, with a score of 3-1. LCCC midfielder Eddie Mercado provided the lone goal. Salt Lake outshot LCCC 19-12. Alvarez had 7 saves.
The Golden Eagles were unable to hold off Iowa Western Community College in a road match on Sept. 4, losing 6-1. Dalton Young provided the lone goal for LCCC.Iowa Western outshot LCCC 27-6.
The Golden Eagles dropped a game against Northwest Kansas Technical College Mavericks on Sept. 9, 3-0. The three goals were scored by Maverick’s Juho Saukko, Damian Michalec and Bidhan Rai. Alvarez from LCCC had 9 saves.
LCCC lost on the road against Garden City Community College on Sept. 10, with a score of 3-1. Forward Isreal Hernandez scored the lone goal for LCCC. Garden City CC’s Joel Sanchez, Remi Emeriau and Lyle Lakey were able to take the lead on LCCC.
The Golden Eagles fell to Western Wyoming Community College at home on Sept.13, 2-0. Western Wyoming’s Jesse Lopez and Ramon Aparicio scored the two goals. Alvarez stopped six shots in the game.
The Golden Eagles were unable to capitalize in the 90 minutes played against the Northwest Community College Trappers on Sept. 17, and lost 1-0. LCCC outshot the Trappers 22-6 with the lone goal scored by the Trappers’ Daniel Lobera.
The Golden Eagles were able to find the net against Gillette Community College on Sept. 20, winning 3-1.Eddie Mercado, Blake Mathews and Ricardo Vazquez scored goals for LCCC. While Donovan Odier scored for Gillette.
LCCC settled for a draw with Sheridan College at home on Sept. 23. The final score was 1-1 in double overtime. The goals were from LCCC’s Ricardo Vazquez and Sheridan’s Francisco Pacheco.
On Sept. 27 The Golden Eagles faced Otero Community College on the road and lost 2-1. Goals were scored by LCCC’s Ricardo Vazquez and Otero’s Salvador Jimenez and Sebastian Garcia.
The Golden Eagles defeated Western Wyoming Community College 3-0 at home on Oct. 4. Goals were scored by LCCC’s Isreal Hernandez (2) and Francisco Garcia.
The Golden Eagles lost against Northwest Community College on Oct. 7, 2-1. Goals were scored courtest of LCCC’s Aaron Barber and Northwest’s Ryan Tyrer and Jay Younger.
LCCC added another win to their season on Oct. 11 against Gillette Community College. The Golden Eagles won 5-1 at home, with goals from LCCC’s Jacob Alvarez, Eddie Mercado, Aaron Barber, Raul Magno, and Ricardo Vazuez.
The Golden Eagles played the Sheridan College Generals on Oct. 14 in a road match and suffered a 1-0 loss on a goal late in the game from Sheridan’s Jose Guerrero.
LCCC finished the season with a 1-0 loss to Trinidad Community College on Oct 27th over a penalty kick. The Golden Eagles didn’t qualify for the Region IX tournament.
