Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo rescheduled for March, homecoming events to be announced

The Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo will take place on the first weekend of March, but the rest of the homecoming events have not yet been scheduled.

Normally, homecoming and the memorial take place in the fall semester at Laramie County Community College. Due to the horse quarantine last fall, events were pushed back until this spring. This made it more difficult to schedule homecoming activities since they typically revolve around the fall sporting events.

Zeke Sorenson, Student Engagement and Diversity Coordinator, said that homecoming activities are currently in the works, but it is unknown when they will be finalized. Originally, Scott Noble, previous Director of Athletics/Campus Recreation at LCCC, oversaw homecoming, but with his recent resignation and acceptance as Director of Athletics at Western New Mexico University the plans have yet to be finalized.

In the past, the activities for homecoming have included a chili cook off run by the student government, as well as spirit day, which included activities such as face painting. Occasionally there is a parade, but due to low attendance in the past, homecoming coordinators are unsure if that will happen this year.

About Jesse Twitchell (15 Articles)
My name is Jesse Twitchell, and I was born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I graduated high school in 2012, and shortly after, I started attending classes at Laramie County Community College. I’ve been a Multimedia major for the entire time I have attended this college. I took a break from school in 2014 when I joined the Wyoming Air National Guard, and attended training in Texas, Arkansas and Washington. My position in the Air Force is C-130 Loadmaster. I coordinate airdrops, as well as overseeing the on-loading and off-loading of our cargo aircraft. On my time off from work and school, I write music and play videogames. I do not have a favorite genre of music, however I mostly write acoustic songs on the guitar. I am looking forward to finishing my multimedia degree and moving on to the University of Wyoming to continue my education.
