Theatre program takes home two regional honors

Laramie County Community College’s Theatre received two awards from this year’s Region 7 Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival.

The festival honored several people for last fall’s production of “The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later”. Lighting designer Alexander Soden, stage manager Emilygrace Piel and set designer Solveig Gasner were awarded the Don Child Collaboration Award through the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas. Soden was also recognized with the Design, Technology and Management Region 7 Legacy Award for his lighting design.

“That our students were recognized with these awards for their work is absolutely thrilling,” said LCCC theatre instructor, and director of the production, Jason Pasqua. “This show, and the special place it holds for us, makes it quite an accomplishment.”

LCCC Theater’s next production will be two one-act plays by James McLure: “Laundry and Bourbon,” and “Lone Star.” Both performances will be from April 19-21, and April 26-28.
