Hurlburt shines at Lamar, Shawn Dubie Oct. 12-14

Austin Hurlburt led the Laramie County Community College rodeo team at the Lamar College Rodeo on Oct. 5-7 in Lamar, Colorado.


The men’s team took fifth at the rodeo with a score of 280 points, led by Hurlburt, who took first in the tie-down roping event with a total time of 22.2 seconds. Hurlburt sits in fourth place in the Central Rocky Mountain Region standings. Brock Belkham took third in the steer wrestling event with a time of 9.8 seconds. The men currently sit in sixth place as a team in the CRMR standings.


The women’s team finished in a tie for eighth with a total of 45 points. Caydee Johnson took sixth in the goat-tying event with a total time of 18.7 seconds. The women currently sit in seventh place in the CRMR standings as a team.


The rodeo team stays home this weekend for the Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo. The rodeo starts at 7 p.m. Oct. 12-13 and at 11 a.m. Oct. 14. The rodeo is held at the Arena.
