Women’s soccer advances to Region IX semifinals

In the final match of the 2018 women’s soccer regular season, the Golden Eagles fell to Gillette College 3-1. The Golden Eagles’ lone goal was scored by Annie Rolf in the 83rd minute to avoid the shutout. Ellie Bowman had 3 saves in goal for the Golden Eagles.  

 

The 12th-ranked Golden Eagles moved on to Region IX tournament to take on the Northwest Junior College Trappers at home in the regional quarterfinals. The Golden Eagles advanced to the Region IX semi-finals by taking down the Trappers by a score of 2 to 0. LCCC’s first goal was scored by Rolf in the 56th minute. This was Rolf’s fifth goal of the season. LCCC final goal was scored by sophomore Taylor Stoeger on a penalty kick.

The win takes the Golden Eagles into the semifinal match against Gillette College at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Metro State University in Denver.
