Volleyball earns birth to NJCAA national tournament

The Laramie County Community College volleyball team went 2-0 on Nov. 3 to earn its way to the NJCAA national tournament in Hutchison, Kan., later this month  

The Golden Eagles started their day with a victory over Western Wyoming Community College 3-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-13, 25-14).

They were led in that match by Lizzy Clark, who tallied 18 kills and 10 blocks.

Beating Western Wyoming meant the Golden Eagles made it to the Region IX District D championship against Western Nebraska Community College. LCCC won the match against previously ranked WNCC 3-1 ( 25-15, 17-25, 25-14, 26-24).

Sophomore Kylie Martin recorded 13 kills and 10 digs, Avery Nelson also added 13 kills, and Kyle Meltzer added 22 digs.

The NJCAA national tournament starts Nov. 15. The Golden Eagles’ first opponent will be announced when the seeding for the tournament is completed.
