HUTCHINSON, Kansas — The Laramie County Community College volleyball team went 2-0 Nov. 16 at the NJCAA national tournament, advancing to the ninth-place match.
The Golden Eagles started the day against 10th-seeded New Mexico Military Institute winning 3-2 (18-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 15-12). Avery Nelson had a comeback match after being held to just four kills the night before, as she notched a career-high 25 kills against NMMI. Kylie Martin also bounced back with 14 kills of her own. Kasandra Sturges added 35 assists.
In the second game of the day the Golden Eagles beat the Snow College Badgers 3-1 (25-18, 25-19, 23-25, 25-23). Nelson had a game-high 18 kills while Jessica Benedict added 15 kills. Sturges had 41 assists, and McKayla Earl led the defense with 12 digs for the Golden Eagles.
LCCC will play for ninth place in the nation at 10 a.m. Central time Saturday, Nov. 17, when the Golden Eagles take on Mineral Area
