President Dr. Joe Schaffer selected to AACC

Laramie County Community College’s president has been selected for seat on the American Association of Community Colleges Board of Directors, a position he begins on July 1.

President Dr. Joe Schaffer is one of 10 community college presidents recently elected to serve on that board. He is the only one of those newly elected directors from a college in the Rocky Mountain region or the western United States.

The AACC oversees more than 1,000 community colleges across the United States and.

Schaffer said in a news release that he believes that this is a great way to showcase LCCC and all it has to offer.

“LCCC has been gaining greater recognition regionally and nationally. This has opened up opportunities for our involvement and leadership in helping chart a future for higher education in America,” Schaffer said. “The AACC is one of the most prominent organizations doing this work, and LCCC now has a seat at the table.”
