26 bands to perform for Fridays on the Plaza

Since 2005, the Friday’s on the Plaza has been the go-to event in Cheyenne every summer. Starting June 7 to Aug. 30, there will be a variety of 26 bands and artists, and seven of those are local. There will also be a few dates not on Friday, called Fridays Extended.

There will be two bands performing every Friday. The first band will start at 5:30 p.m. and end at 6:30 p.m., and the second band will start at 7 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. There will be food trucks that vary from week to week. Beer will be provided by the Cheyenne Depot Museum, and the Plains Hotel will provide wine and other drinks.

“We are very excited about this year’s lineup,” Special Events Coordinator Shannon Martinez said. “We have a variety of genres playing this year, including seven local artists. We like to think that the lineup is diverse enough that there will be a band for everyone out of the 26 bands we have coming this summer.”

There will be events called Fridays Extended, where bands will play on other days besides Friday.

“We are adding a few dates called ‘Fridays Extended’ that will include Cheyenne Day, July 24 from noon to 9:30 p.m.,” Martinez said. “We will have four bands that day including Boogie Machine and Thumpin’. The other two bands are to be announced.”

Martinez also added that on Saturday, July 20,Sir Mix-A-Lot will perform on the plaza at 7:30 p.m.
