Laramie County Library presents Local Author Day

Laramie County Library will be celebrating its third year of an event that focuses on local authors. Local Author Day was started back in September of 2017. This year, it is celebrated on Saturday, Sept 14th.

According to Robin Papaleka who is the Adult Programming Specialist for the Library, they are expecting a number of 26 authors. The event starts at 10 a.m.-4 p.m. All of the authors are planning on coming in at different times. Local authors range from Laramie County, Green River, one from Casper, and one from Texas. Papaleka said, “The Texas one surprised us, but unless we just get way too full this year, we won’t start excluding authors who want to come if they aren’t really local.” One local author who is becoming well known on Social Media that will be present is Steven Bates.

This event focuses on supporting and befriending authors. It is a great way to show your support and meet the faces behind the books you may enjoy. “The best way the community can help is to come check out Local Author’s Day. Talk to authors, look at their books, buy one and get one signed! Spread the word on your social media or talk to friends and family. Maybe with your help a local author will become the next best seller!” Papaleka said.

The event is free and open to the public. The library will be handling book sales, otherwise, everything else is done by the authors. “The authors are the ones that make it shine.” Papaleka said.
